As a publisher, you have complete control over the advertisement that runs on your AdSense web site. You can choose to run only image ads, only text ads, or a combination of both. Google recommends that you choose a combination of both to maximize your earning potential, but the decision is yours. When making your ad decision, you also have the freedom to choose which type of ads that will be shown on your AdSense web site or even on a particular content page.

As of right now, you are not able to differentiate your image ad click rate from your text ad click rate. You can of
course, differentiate your click through rate from one AdSense web site as opposed to another AdSense web site. For example, you run only image ads on one site and only text ads on another site. By setting up channels to track both sites, you can see which AdSense web site has the better click through rate. However you have to take into consideration that there would other factors that will affect your click through rate. These factors includes
the content of you site, the placement of the ads in general, the format of your ads and more.

Please refer to the Google AdSense Support Site for specific instructions on how to enable or disable image ads.

Read the Rules

Google AdSense is a popular income generating tool for a lot webmasters. Its popularity attracts more people to join the program. Some of these new comers are referred by friends or family. In most cases, they sign up Google AdSense program without reading the terms and conditions carefully and completely. The result is they break the rules. They get caught breaking these rules and they are banned.

They don’t have a clue why they are banned from the program. They find out the reason by reading the AdSense rules and policies after they are banned from the program. It is too late for that because once you are banned for breaking the rules, there is no way you can get back in again. It is Google policy that any webmaster can have only one AdSense account.

Common Beginner Mistakes

If you spend enough time reading posts from AdSense forums, you could easily spot a few mistakes done by new comers.

Google AdSense Mistake #1:

Never Disclose Your Click Through Rate (CTR):

It is stated clearly in AdSense terms and conditions item No.7: Confidentiality that you are not allowed to disclose your click-through rates or other statistics relating to site performance provided by Google. You are violating the rules if you post your CTR in the forum.

It is normal that new comers may have a lot of questions regarding CTR. The most common questions you will find in the forums are:

My CTR is x%? Is it too high? Will Google banned me for this?

I am making $x, 100 clicks out of 1000 impressions. What can I do to increase my AdSense earnings?

I got 100 clicks out of 60? How is this possible?

10 clicks out of 60 impression but no earnings, why?

Well, if you spend enough time reading posts from the forum, most of the time you will find the answers to your questions. Most likely someone has already asked the same question as you. However, if you are looking for a quick answer, you should not disclose your actual CTR or other statistics relating to site performance provided by Google in your questions.

Google AdSense Mistake #2:

Using Traffic Exchange Programs:

It is stated clearly in Prohibited Clicks and Impressions section of Google policy that you are not allowed to any method that artificially generates clicks or impressions. Using paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf programs to generate clicks or impressions will lead to the termination of your AdSense account.

Google AdSense Mistake #3:

Don’t Fall for Click-Exchange Program:

To be honest, the is no quick money in AdSense. There are few AdSense click exchange programs trying to lure new comers to join their membership sites by promising thousands of clicks in return. These websites include:

www [dot] clickmonkeys [dot] com

www [dot] adsense-xchange [dot] com

www[dot]clickmogul[dot]com

Do Not Fall for It! Using click exchange program to generate clicks is strictly prohibited.

Google AdSense Mistake #4:

Don’t Use Google Trademarks in Your Domain Name:

If you need to use Google Trademarks, you need to get written permission from them.
It is a violation to Google policy if publisher places Google ads on sites incorporating Google trademarks in the site URL. Here is why you should not use AdSense in your domain name.
